* * CONCERT * * WITH SUPPER
7.30pm, Tuesday 9 December
Cafe Kai, 133 George St, Bathurst
Alistair Hulett
and
David Rovics
Alistair Hulett is a long time favourite with Bathurst Folk Club audiences who always enjoys performing in Bathurst each time he tours Australia. ‘Folk On Tap’ called him “One of the defining voices of Scottish music” and a reviewer in the influential music magazine fRroots wrote “Hulett is at once an intense singer, radiating conviction, and a genuinely imaginative lyricist.” Many of his songs such as “He Fades Away”, “Destitution Road” and “The Swaggies Have All Waltzed Matilda Away” have become folk standards.
Touring Australia with Alistair is American progressive singer-songwriter, David Rovics, and we welcome him to Bathurst for the first time. The BBC’s Andy Kershaw described him as “a guy George W.Bush would probably like to clamp in chains in Guantanamo Bay”. Pete Seeger simply said “Listen to David Rovics…”

Cafe Kai is a new venue, hoping to become a meeting place for groups and providing a friendly space for live music performances. Come and enjoy the great music and food at Cafe Kai.
This will be the Bathurst Folk Club’s one and only concert for 2008, so don’t miss it.
Tuesday 9 December
